So am I only one that says I can't wait to get away from here? Or I can't wait to move? I know I have said this exact thing thousands of times but over time, things have changed. I had to realize that before I could go, I had to exhaust myself where I was currently. What does that mean? That means that before I can leave, I need to make sure I do everything there is for me to do right where I am now.
Consider the reasons you may want to leave. It may be because of money, work, opportunity, etc. Now the question becomes are those valid reasons to want to go? I know every case is different but have you considered what moving at the wrong time could cost you? I had to learn this because I've always been just ready to leave. I've had several opportunities come my way that would've allowed for me to move and travel doing what I love doing but the timing wasn't right and I still had work that needed to be completed.
How could I move and there's still young people who need a mentor? How could I leave when there are people who need my help? What makes you any different? How can you leave and there is still someone who needs to hear what you have to say? How can you leave and there are people who need to come to you for advice? We have to make sure we've done everything we were supposed to do before God allows us to go elsewhere. It is important that we are careful because so many times we say our time is up and it's time for new scenery, and we can interfere with the actual plan for our lives all because we feel we need to go.
Is it wrong to want to leave and do other things? Not at all. The important thing is knowing that timing is everything. When it's the right time, everything will flow smoothly. It will almost be effortless. We just have to be careful that we don't get in the way. We also have to make sure we are seeking guidance as to what we should be doing concerning our future. Everything in our lives is intentional we just have to be receptive to the process and be ready when our time comes. Sitting still allows you to listen and wait for instruction. Don't think just because you're moving that you are progressing. The truth of the matter is, sometimes we are moving a lot and getting nowhere fast.
Now what does sitting still look like? It could be as simple as being anxious for nothing. It could be simply taking the time to thoroughly analyze situations before making decisions. Sitting still could be praying and seeking God for direction. We just have to learn to be more patient and be quick to listen and slow to move. Now remember sitting still isn't always stagnation, it's wisdom. Why work harder to make your plans happen when you can be more effective by just being patient and waiting for direction for God’s plan? Sometimes I sit and wonder where I would be if I had never learned how to sit still.
